Platforms like YouTube and SoundCloud provide a massive library of music in music video format. Peggo - YouTube to MP3 Converter is an Android app that lets you take advantage of that library by converting those music videos to MP3. Strip away the video and have access to MP3s that don’t require additional data usage and can be enjoyed even when you don’t have an Internet connection.

The app has a well-organized user interface, and you can search YouTube and SoundCloud at the same time with the same query. Searches are basic, and there’s no option to search by details. You can watch videos from within the app, and when you’ve found a song you want to download, downloading it is as simple as tapping a Record MP3 button.

By default, songs will be in the quality provided with the video. You can also lower that quality, which will reduce the file size. There’s also an option to remove silence, which will trim the song at the start and end. A normalize option helps create a more stable MP3 when volume levels were raised or lowered for the purposes of the source video.

All of the music you download is listed in the Downloads tab of the app. You’ll also have access to it via the file system or media library, which may be important since Peggo doesn’t have an integrated music player. It’s a great little app, but not being able to play downloaded music without an external app makes the experience a little more cumbersome than it should be.
